IPPF HIV Stigma Index
THE CHALLENGE
The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is a global service provider and a leading advocate of sexual and reproductive health and rights for all.
The IPPF required the production of a database system that could provide an online resource within which the IPPF researchers could input their HIV Stigma research data.
THE SOLUTION
Pomegranate designed and developed a website and database system for the HIV Stigma Index. The People Living with HIV Stigma Index provides a tool that will measure and detect changing trends in relation to stigma and discrimination experienced by people living with HIV.
The primary function of the database is to enable the UK Stigma index team to interrogate the research data from 4 international countries. The system allows research data to be uploaded and then the results distilled through a range of specific filters applied within the database interface.
In addition, the IPPF would like to ensure that the DBS can accommodate the research data of supplementary countries.
THE OUTCOME
The successful implementation of the new IPPF database system has produced the following benefits for IPPF.
- Provided a consolidated data index system where research data from the HIV Stigma research project can be applied.
- Promote the work that the IPPF and HIV Stigma researchers have carried out, to fulfil the funding obligations from external organisations.
- Provided a user interface that allows for quick and intuitive interrogation of the research data, from preset query types and filters.
- Develop a scalable system that will allow for the inclusion of additional countries data in the future.
